16th Salon du Livre - The Short Guide

Paris, Friday, 22. March 1996:- As in past years, the Salon du Livre takes place in the big Hall 1 at the Parc des Expositions de Paris at the Porte de Versailles. For statistics fans, there are a few interesting numbers following the hard info below:

Adults - 30 F (incldes entry to Salon 'Musicora') Free - for children under 13 years, all residents of the Ile de France under 20 years, and for all professionals with adequate documentation.

Within the Salon du Livre, there are some 'sub-salons;' they are:
- 2nd Salon de l'Edition Multimedia
- 4th Salon des Métiers du Livre
- 6th Salon de la Revue
Concurrently with the Salon du Livre, there is also the musical salon, 'Musicora' - which is included in the entry price.

35,000 square metres - surface of the salon 510 stands 1193 Publishers; 1803 including Multimedia, Métiers, and Revues 905 French Publishers

288 Foreign Publishers - from the following countries: Algeria- 8, Belgium- 30, Germany- 6, Ireland- 15, Italy- 2, Luxembourg- 2, Morocco- 10, Québec / Canada- 68, Russia- 2, Romania- 6, Spain- 3, Switzerland- 38, Turkey- 5, USA- 84; and one each from the following countries: Cape Verde Islands, China, Denmark, Monaco, Norway, The Netherlands, Poland, and Great Britian.

There are 395 publishers from 21 regions throughout France.

There will be more than 95 conference and debates. 800 authors are expected to be present, and 200,000 visitors are expected.

If you are searching for a particular book, there is a database containing more than 350,000 titles, called Electre, that can be accessed from a dozen terminals located around the salon hall.
