The actual card, as reproduced here, potentially contains millions of colors; far more than any standard computer system set of only 256 colors. Therefore, printingphoto: virtual membership card it in black and white is highly unrecommended. In black and white, it looks like some scrap ripped out of a poorly-printed smut magazine.

This is Your membership card. It is not 'plastic.'

For 'virtual' or real Café Metropole Club members who have come in late, you will note that this is a 'virtual' membership card. If you want to carry one around with you - perhaps to prove that you belong to an exclusive* club in Paris - you will have to make a print of it; in color, if possible.

*'Exclusive' in this sense means that it is the only Café Metropole Club in Paris that accepts members, and their pets. People from other planets or star systems are requested to not apply.

The Whole History of the Café Metropole Club

With its sixth meeting behind it, the 'Whole History' of the Café Metropole Club has gotten longer and even more boring to repeat, and is therefore, hereby, suppressed again. Older versions of its 'History' do remain online, somewhere in ' All Past Issues.'

The Café Metropole Club Is a Good-Value Club

The 'Club' is excellent value for what it costs but it has no actual real or virtual benefits, except for being free. Its sole purpose is to offer an opportunity for all readers to meet each other and me, the 'Ed' of this online weekly magazine about Paris, in Paris.

If, at the same time, you feel like having a French style 'hot dog' - I encourage you to do so as they are an unusual experience, and might provide you with a non-confrontational topic of conversation at dinner parties where the main course is salad. Warning: the 'hot' mustard, which you may have to ask for, is usually the very hot 'Dijon' variety - very similar to the famed Düsseldorfer Schnorkelsenf.

'Virtual' membership is not only permitted, but encouraged - no one is excluded from membership by failure to be in Paris. Possession of the new 'virtual' membership card is not obligatory. Since several meetings ago, even reading the 'Club's' online magazine, 'Metropole Paris,' is not obligatory even if it is highly recommended by its 'Ed' - who has a vested interest in it.

Practical Information

I have been informed that next Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. It is not a holiday like Beaujolais Nouveau day in Paris, so I expect all 'Club' members who are not having Thanksgiving Day inphoto: location map, la corona Paris to show up at their 'Club' instead. Here are the location, day and time details for you to note:

Café-Tabac La Corona
2. Rue de l'Amiral Coligny
Paris 1. Métro: Louvre-Rivoli or Pont-Neuf
Every Thursday at 15:00, until 17:00.

La Corona has a small 'salle' just off the bar and a large 'salle' behind the bar. There is a small terrace on the Rue de l'Amiral Coligny side, which faces west; and a big terrace on the Quai de Louvre side, which faces south. The club meetings are held at the rear of the big 'salle.'

When you enter the bar area of La Corona you will not immediately see any 'Club' activity. To find it, go around the left side of the bar. If you are unused to bars, the one in La Corona has a zinc top and has beer handles sticking up like antlers. Somewhere near the cash register, you might see a little wire stand holding hard-boiled eggs. Go left past the eggs to find the 'club.'

If all else fails, simply ask whoever is behind the bar - 'show me the way to the 'Club,' s'il vous plaît.

See you soon - A bientôt à Paris,
