We Love Them

Yeah, Yeah, Forever

Paris:– Thursday, 28. September:–  Tonight's club report is a little different. The club meeting was this afternoon, but The Beatles Story was tonight. This has been promoted by member Yoko because her part in it has increased – not to the point of singing! – so your club's secretary had to be there – to use his free ticket.

For this reason I did not catch the weather on the TV–news tonight. A club report without weather is like a dark and stormy night, right? Then there was everything said by the attending members, Terrie Blazek from Chicago and Larry Mann, who is still from Portland, Oregon. I did the photos but I did not do the report. Both come tomorrow.

Tonight's Beatles quasi–replica show was at the Théâtre Gymnase and when I got there a lot of people were standing in the street. I went inside I scored my beautiful free ticket and then went outside to keep the crowd company. This is where club member Gary de La Rosa found me. We entered by way of Gary's secret entry and the fabulous ticket ladies rearranged our tickets so we could sit together.

They said, "Come back if you are behind a pillar and we'll give you better tickets." But our seats were okay. We sat down in the antique theatre – with gilded balconies, loges, all the trimmings! – and listened to the oldies but goodie Beatles for days. Actually it was hours. We got our money's worth! It was a good show, especially if you like Beatles songs.

Yoko Does Yoko

Our very own Yoko appears in the stage show Beatles Story for three performances next week. This involves some French guys who play Beatles tunes – really well – and sing, and act like Beatles. With intermission the show lasts over two hours, and it is a show. Yoko's part – she does not sing – has been expanded from the version I saw a year ago. On 29. and 30. September, at 20:30. At the Théâtre Gymnase, 38 bis, boulevard Bonne Nouvelle, Paris 10. Cash bar. Métro: Bonne Nouvelle. InfoTél.; 01 42 46 79 79, or hit the Websites.

The rest of everything comes tomorrow. Dial back in to get the full club report. There might be more too – there's accordion music in a café in the quartier on Friday night and then there will be a trip to the Paris Auto Show on Saturday.

A bientôt à Paris
