One of New York's rare freebies. Saturday, 2. December:– After battling crazed mobs in an afternoon frenzy to view the decorated Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, after considerable fast action self–defense against the world's great unwashed sloshing around in Times Square, the relative decorum of the folks ice skating peacefully in Bryant Park was an immense relief. A bonus included a Christmas marché selling the usual trinkets for midtown Manhattan prices. It's only the centre of the world – what did you expect?
