The Original 'Report' of the Last Meeting

There were several new outstanding 'Quotes of the Week' last Thursday. Every club meeting only happens once, so these are original too. See the unofficial original report of last Thursday's weekly Club meeting, here.

The Secretary's Impending 'Holiday'

For the first time in 14 years I will be leaving the continent for a short holiday. During this time club meeting will continue with the server-lady Linda Thalman sitting in as the official unofficial club secretary.

The club meetings affected are the following:

  • Next Thursday, 29. June - this meeting's secretary will be the server-lady and club member Linda Thalman.
  • Thursday, 6. July - this meeting's secretary will be the server-lady and club member Linda Thalman again.
  • Thursday,13. July - this meeting's secretary will be Linda Thalman. Three times is lucky! If I am not present at this meeting, it will be because I am circling lazily over some part of Europe while striking air-traffic controllers try to find alternate landing spots in Africa.

This last date above is the eve of Bastille Day, and will probably be the occasion for a lot of party-like activities in Paris - which may be more extreme this year on account of its '2000' character. If you intend to participate be sure to wear colorful and stout dancing shoes.

I will do what I can not miss this club meeting and this evening in Paris. Moreover, I do not wish to miss the biggest picnic in the entire history of the whole world on Friday, 14. July.

Details about this are scarce. In next week's Metropole there will be links back to this time last year, plus tips for finding out more for this year, for those who are in Paris.

Next Thursday's club meeting will be held as usual in the same place at the same time, rain or shine.

Mumbo-Jumbo Fine-Print Suspended

This was threatened last week, and this week it goes into force. If you want to read it again, or for the first time, pleasephoto: virtual membership card refer to 'Past Issues' or read next week's 'Club News' which will magically appear in next week's issue.

The Café Metropole Club Membership Card

Secretary's Note:-The following cannot be suspended because then you wouldn't know about the club's membership card. This is the Café Metropole Club's membership card. This rest of the blah-blah concerning this can still be found on the six weeks before last's 'Club News' page. I can tell you right now that having this card in your possession is not officially necessary, and it is unofficially not discouraged.

The Next Club Meeting

The next meeting of the Café Metropole Club will be on Thursday, 29. June, in Paris. This is the dual Saints Pierre and Paul Day in Paris. If you need to celebrate this day all the same - even twice - remember that after subtracting club time, there are still 21.5 hours left on this day for other celebrations.

The club's 'report' about the next meeting is unlikely to be put online before the secretary's return from holidays. I haven't figured out this part yet, so you'll just have to wait until the Monday, 17. July issue of Metropole to find out.

Stand-in club secretary and bona-fide member, the server-lady Linda Thalman, may write a report - but I think her Cadillac Ranch will be keeping her busy, probably cutting some large amounts of grass.

What? Where? When? How?

photo: location map, la coronaHere are the day, time and location details for you to note:

Café-Tabac La Corona
2. Rue de l'Amiral Coligny - or - 30. Quai du Louvre
Paris 1. Métro: Louvre-Rivoli or Pont-Neuf
In non-continental terms, even in Paris, the times are from 3 pm to 5 pm.

The usual balderdash about the café La Corona which used to be here can still be found on the six weeks before last's 'Club News' page. The information missing here describes the club's location within the café La Corona. This can be summed up as: ask at the bar or go behind it into the 'grande salle.' The way is signposted.

See you soon - A bientôt à Paris,
