Thursday, 29. June:- Club Meeting 38:- Linda, the server-lady, wrote that there was a 'full-house' with new members Lisa Breen from Washington, DC and Schuyler Hoffmann from Seattle, Washington. Long-timephoto: linda, mark, poster of the week, gary tredeau members Mark Kritz from Santa Cruz, California and Adrian Leeds who lives in Paris, made return visits.

Thursday, 6. July:- Club Meeting 39:- The new member of the week was London-originating Paris resident Chris Arden and Santa Cruz' own Mark Kritz made a repeat visit, with, according to Linda, the 'Poster of the Week.' This week the mystery photo is here, and I assume new club member Chris Arden popped the shutter-release.

Linda and Mark, with Gary Tredeau's 'Le Tour de Java' poster.

A note added to Chris Arden's inscription said I should look at the Independent Media Center Web site. I did this, and it features up-to-date news about France's 'bonne bouffe' hero, José Bové, plus news from all over the world concerning activities in opposition to the 'mal bouf'.'

Thursday, 13. July:- Club Meeting 40:- On the eve of Bastille Day, Vivian Borek who has come to Paris more than a dozen times from Boston, Massachusetts was the only member in town unentangled enough with Bastille Day to show up. Good show, Vivian!

About the Club

The Café Metropole Club is a meeting place in Paris for the readers of the weekly online magazine Metropole Paris - which is this magazine you are reading - who are in Paris on a Thursday and are in the vicinity of the club's café at the right time on the right day.

Readers of the online magazine who have not had a chance to attend a club meeting can become members of the club by inducting themselves into it in the privacy of their own homes, no matter where they live. Becoming a member has no negative effect on your universal rights as human beings or as readers.

The club is informal. There is no 'club poem' for you to learn. The club's unwritten and unofficial rules state quite clearly that the club has no 'dress-code.' There is no unofficial secret ring or other jive. Non-readers of the online magazine have also become members.

The Café Metropole Club Membership Card

Secretary's Note:-The following cannot be suspended because then you wouldn't know about the club's membership card.

This is the Café Metropole Club's membership card. This rest of the argle-bargle concerning this can still be found on the 'Club News' page where it last appeared, but be sure to read Mr. Broadhead's tip above for a positive new wrinkle - which could change your whole life.

Otherwise, having this card in your possession is not officially necessary, and it is unofficially not discouraged.

The Next Club Meeting

If you need to observe the conventions of this day all the same remember that after subtracting club time, there are still several hours left on this day for other activities.
