Later I will discover that Bill Rosenthal, who was present at the last two meetings, has sent an email saying, "I regret that shall be late for today's meeting, by probably six to twelve months, so please deliver my best wishes to all who do attend."

'All quiet in the 'grande salle' - time to wrap the 'silver' in napkins!

To make sure there is no misunderstandings, I carefully explain to Paula the implications of agreeing to permit the magazine to publish a member's photo.

Although the 'implications' are 99.9 percent nil, Paula decides against giving her permission. This is after I've taken four photos - there are no other members present, after all - but before I've seen them.

If you have ever had doubts about joining the club because of the photo business, you can do what Paula has decided not to do too. Even if the photos are good, they won't show up here without your say-so.

This is a disappointment though because one of Paula's photos is a cut above average, and it would have given the club's gallery of wonderful mug shots a nice touch of extra class.

By 16:45 Paula is getting anxious to see Paris again, for her visit is very short this time - so we make a long-handshake goodbye before she goes scooting off, towards Samaritaine.

Me, the club's secretary, I stay put. Members have been known to arrive minutes after the weekly club meeting is over, and I'll give everybody that extra minute or two - but not 'six to twelve months' - to find their way out of the depths of Châtelet's tunnels.

The 'About the Café Metropole Club' Page

Many of the former club 'rules' and other so-called 'information' is well beyond being ancient, but you can still refresh your memory of it by reading the 'About the Café Metropole Club' page - whichphoto: signature will also tell you where to find the club in Paris and the day and time of the meetings.

Lack of Paula's photo is made up for with Paula's signature - in Chinese.

If you have already committed this to memory, it might also be an idea to look at this page because it also contains a virtual replica of the club's original membership card. This unique item can not be found on many other Web sites.

Date, Time and Location of Next Meeting

The next Café Metropole Club meeting in Paris will be held on Thursday, 9. August, which is the annual day known as Saint-Amour's Day. If not taken too literally, it will not interfere with the club's regular meeting - provided you have not experienced a special day like this one in Paris before.

The day after will be just another ordinary Saint-Laurent's Day. Other than this, the day will be an unremarkable Friday as well, except it will be the second one in August, of course.

The café La Corona meeting place will have all of its doors open wide as it has every week containing Thursdays. Your club's meeting time will begin at 15:00 and continue until 17:00 in Europe's Central European Time Zone - which is 'CET' for short and not 'ATOOT' - and elsewhere known as 3 pm to 5 pm unmetrically.

The club's secretary, also known as 'Ed,' will be making a few 'report' notes during the coming meetingphoto: chair, table, terrace but there's no need to be concerned about this because 'Ed' will be unlikely to use them entirely.

Lively terrace life continued today while club life inside the café was quite quiet.

Have your new 'Quote of the Week' ready or put your own new 'City of the Week' up for consideration or even invent any other 'Things of the Week.' Having these on hand might be enough to get them mentioned in a meeting's club 'report,' like this one.

Wise words and thoughtful thoughts will be welcomed by the other members present - and all readers of this online magazine with the free and real Paris club for readers who 'just want to be' members, and don't mind nonsensical 'reports' about is meetings.

The café's location is:

Café-Tabac La Corona
2. Rue de l'Amiral de Coligny - or - 30. Quai du Louvre
Paris 1. Métro: Pont-Neuf or Châtelet.

A bientôt à Paris,
