While 'Happy Hour' might be a good time of day for a club's meeting, having one in a place that has to stoop to having 'Happy Hours' might not be so good.

Wanted - One Place To Meet in Manhattan

Restaurants are probably unsuitable, mainly because they expect diners to sit at fairly small tables and eat a lot. Dinner service also begins at 6 pm - when a club meeting might end - but what if the meeting goes on a bit longer? Restaurants also require reservations - who knows how many of us may turn up?

My dim memory recalls that some hotels used to have fairly large lounges. Do these still exist? Does anybody know of a comfortable one?

If not, have you any other ideas?

Let's think about this a bit. If we can't get a French-type place for the meeting, we'll have to get something else. If there aren't any Paris-type cafés, then somewhere else will have to do.

The Club's New York Meeting 'Report'

In theory, this will be done as usual after the meeting and put online as usual, within Metropole's regular 6.51/52 issue. But it has to be considered that this special meeting will slurp over into overtime, and taking into account the six-hour time difference, the 'report' will probably be a bit late getting online.

The other purpose of this extreme change of venue is to produce a 'Paris In New York' issue of Metropole Paris. All suggestions furthering this purposephoto: bistro table, chairs will be welcome as well.

The 'Paris In New York' features will appear in Metropole's issue 7.01/02, which is expected to be put online on Monday, 7. January 2002.

Terraces might be too cold in New York in December. They are too cold in Paris too, even if they are heated like this one.

This project will be another 'first' for your online magazine about Paris. To make it a major 'first' I am relying on you, both readers of the magazine, and members of the Café Metropole Club. I am looking forward to seeing you in New York City.

The Club's Meeting In Paris On 27. December

This has not been canceled yet because one of the club's members in Paris is considering hosting this meeting. If this is the case, the meeting will be held at the regular time in the café La Corona. Names of members who attend will be sent to New York for inclusion in the day's meeting 'report' which may turn out to be a transatlantic one.

The 'About the Café Metropole Club' Page

You can learn some other stuff concerning what this free club is about if you really feel you need to - by reading 'About the Café Metropole Club.' This explains where to find the club's usual meeting place in Paris.

You will also be able to find out how you can become a member of this online magazine's cozy club in Paris, by simply coming to a meeting, while ignoring all of its expired 'rules,' which have been abolished. 'No rules' have been the club 'rule' for some time now.

The Time and Place of the Next Meeting In Paris

The meeting place in Le Café Lodi will be open as it is nearly every week with a Thursday. Yourphoto: quai du louvre, rain club's meeting time will begin at 15:00 and stretch out to 17:00 in Europe's Central European Time Zone - which is 'CET' for short and not 'UFUF' - and elsewhere known as 3 pm to 5 pm in zones without boringly simple metrical 24-hour time.

Some people prefer the fall season, if it happens to be on the Quai du Louvre.

Le Café Lodi is substituting for the club's regular café La Corona while it is being renovated. This is expected to be complete in time to resume meetings in La Corona on Thursday, 13. December. The two cafés are only a couple of dozen metres apart, so if the meeting doesn't seem to be in one, it will be in the other.

The club's temporary meeting location is:

Le Café Lodi
24. Quai du Louvre
Paris 1. Métro: Pont-Neuf or Châtelet.

The club's regular meeting location is:

Café-Tabac La Corona
2. Rue de l'Amiral Coligny - or - 30. Quai du Louvre
Paris 1. Métro: Pont-Neuf or Châtelet.

A bientôt à Paris,
